Rare is THE source for everything Austin. From print to online to events, Rare knows this city, inside and out. Its purpose is to keep our community informed on what’s happening locally — shopping, food, health and beauty, real estate, music, nightlife and everything else that keeps Austin cutting-edge.

Rare was officially launched in October 2004. The first issue landed on shelves in May 2005. Rare was a quarterly publication until October 2007 when it made the leap to monthly. Now, 21,000 copies of Rare can be found in over 650 distribution locations throughout the Austin area every month.

In May 2008, Rare will launch a new CityGuide. This website will become THE online source to keep Austinites and visitors completely up-to-date on where to go and what to do in Austin.
